Communications Technology

Communications Technology explores visual computer applications in a media saturated world. 3D virtual reality, digital photo manipulation, web page design, video and video editing are all dynamically part of courses that endeavour to understand the nature of visually communicating our ideas. Using 3D Studio Max (the industry standard), students could create characters and environments for their own game worlds or design unique title graphics for a video short or web page. The Communications Lab has digital photo and video cameras, and a shooting studio complete with green screen. The digital stock footage is then edited with the Adobe suite of Elements and Premier Pro. Using the Macromedia Suite students explore web page design and presentation. In a world increasingly dominated by computers and the streamed image, Communications Technology provides an opportunity for the student to better understand the management and ownership of these technologies and their by-products.
